How long does the Stable change of address process take?

Providing Stable the information we need to submit your mail forwarding request to USPS and  to generate your custom checklist can be done in as little as 10 minutes. Completing the tasks on that checklist depends on how many updates your business needs to make and with who, but most customers can complete the core steps within a couple of hours. USPS forwarding itself typically activates within 7–10 business days of submission.

Does Stable change my address for me?

Changing your business address is a multi-step process that involves multiple distinct entities that will require customer involvement. But Stable does everything we can to make that effort simple and clear, including pre-filled forms, step-by-step instructions, human support, and more.

Will my vendors definitely update their records once I notify them?

We give you the instructions and, for many vendors, direct links to make the update. But we can't guarantee how or when a third party processes a change — that's in their hands. What we can do is make sure you know exactly who to notify and how.

What happens to mail sent to my old business address?

Once your USPS Change of Address is active, first-class mail sent to your old address will be automatically forwarded to Stable for up to 12 months. After that, senders will need to have your new address on file directly — which is why working through your vendor checklist matters.

I skipped the change of address step during onboarding. Can I still do it?

Yes. You can start the process anytime from your address settings in the Stable dashboard. We recommend not waiting too long — the sooner forwarding is active, the less mail ends up in limbo.

What if I have more than one previous address?

No problem. Stable supports multi-address histories. We'll ask about all the locations your business has operated from and make sure the forwarding and checklist reflect all of them.

Can I get help from a real human that works at Stable?

Yes. Our team is available to answer questions throughout the process, and you can book a live walkthrough of your checklist if you'd like a guided run-through. You don't have to figure this out alone.

What is USPS Form 1583, and do I need it?

Form 1583 is the USPS mail authorization form required for anyone using a private mailbox address — like a Stable address. It authorizes Stable to receive and process mail on your behalf. You'll complete this as part of switching to your Stable address. It's handled during onboarding, before your address is activated.

Once I've switched, do I ever need to change my Stable address again?

Your Stable address is permanent — it doesn't change if you move offices, go remote, or expand into new markets. The whole point is that you do this once, and you're done.
