👩💻👨💻 Role
From early-stage startups to publicly traded companies, thousands of businesses trust Stable to operate their mailroom. A core component of this earned trust is our fast and reliable mail operations.
As an early engineer on the mail operations team, you’ll design, build, and deploy software solutions that redefine our physical workflows, leveraging expertise in software, hardware, and AI.
This Dallas-based role anchors our engineering presence at our processing center. You’ll visit the site regularly, talk with operators, troubleshoot issues, and deploy process improvements.
Stable is growing rapidly, and so is the scale of our physical operations. Here are a few examples of the types of projects you’ll work on:
- Hardware Integration – Build software that integrates with barcode scanners, printers, document scanners and mobile computers.
- Internal Dashboard – Build and improve the software at the heart of mail operations. Build tools for mail intake, customer requests, shipping, and team management.
- Automation – Automate workflows across mail operations. Use artificial intelligence to automate document processing, build workflows that reduce repetition, and create systems that help teams move faster.
This role is ideal for engineers invigorated by complex real-world problems and physical operations. You’ll work closely with ops teammates and bring engineering firepower to a complex operational environment.

✅ What You'll Do
- Obsess over the customer to continuously deliver their mail faster and more efficiently.
- Lead the design and implementation for critical workflows, ensuring maintainability, scalability, and performance.
- Balance customer, team member, and stakeholder requirements with engineering priorities.
- Solve complex engineering challenges at the intersection of physical and digital systems
- Architect and implement core infrastructure as we scale with growing mail volume
- Technologies we use: React, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, MySQL, and AWS (if you think a different technology can solve problems better, we’re all ears)
✨Requirements
- 3+ years experience as a full stack engineer
- Self-directed and comfortable leading projects
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex workflows, along with the big picture business context to our mail processing team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, balancing quick wins with longer-term strategic thinking
- Ability to visit our Dallas, TX processing center 1-3 times per week
- Must be willing to travel at least quarterly for company offsites
- Nice to have: Familiarity with warehouse or fulfillment center technology.
- Nice to have: Experience in startup environments or early-stage product work.
