Why is my ID being verified?
In order for Stable to receive mail for you and handle it, USPS requires a signed 1583 form and proof of identity.
This process authorizes Stable to handle your mail for you. Additionally, this proves that nobody is pretending to be you to view your mail.
How does Stable verify my identity?
USPS legally requires us to have two forms of ID and verify that you are the person in your IDs to receive mail for you. Usually, you'd need to prove your identity by getting the 1583 form notarized.
At Stable, we take care of this process for you — we’ll examine your ID verification photo and the IDs you’ve submitted and look for a few things:
How long does it take?
It takes about 1 business day or less to verify your identity.
What are the next steps?
Once we’ve verified your IDs, we’ll send you an email letting you know that your mailbox is authorized and ready to receive mail.
The USPS 1583 form does not change your address for you, so if you’re moving your business to Stable from a previous location, click on the Change of Address tab to get started with updating your address to make sure your mail all goes to Stable.
