How we can help?

Can Stable automatically scan or forward my mail whenever it arrives?

Yes, we can automatically scan all incoming mail and/or forward it to you.
Anna Rhatigan

In your Stable Dashboard, you can turn on a few automations, which help save a lot of time when sorting through your mail. Check to see whether this feature is available on your Stable plan.

By default, we notify you via email or Slack whenever you receive a piece of mail. After you click on the notification, you’ll see a scan of just an envelope — and from there, you’ll need to click on the envelope and decide whether you’d like the contents to be scanned, forwarded, deposited, or shredded.

With automations, you can skip this step and let us know to automatically scan or forward your mail to you —  so you won’t need to log into your Stable dashboard and manually take action on your mail again.

How to Turn On Auto Scanning

To turn on auto-scanning, go to your Stable Dashboard, then go to Settings → Address. Scroll down to Mailroom Automations, and toggle on Scan.

Whenever a piece of mail for you arrives, our team will scan everything inside the envelope and upload it to your Stable dashboard. There’s no limit or extra fees for scans, and we’ll store your scans indefinitely on your Stable Dashboard.

Turning on Auto-Forwarding

We offer two types of auto-forwarding: forwarding mail at specific intervals (weekly, monthly, etc.) and forwarding your mail when it’s reached its storage deadline (30 days for mail and 15 days for packages).

Automatically Forwarding Mail Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly

To turn on auto-forwarding, go to your Stable Dashboard, then go to Settings → Address. Scroll down to Mailroom Automations, and toggle on Forward.

After that, you can choose a few things:

1). Your shipping interval. How often would you like your mail shipped out to you?

Generally, the less often we ship out your mail, the cheaper your shipping prices will be.

2). Your shipping method. You can read about our available shipping methods here.

If you’re forwarding important documents, we recommend opting for USPS Priority Mail, which has tracking information available.

After you select your shipping preferences, we’ll forward your mail to the address we have on file automatically at specific intervals.

Note that if you intend to forward your mail to multiple different addresses, we don’t recommend turning on auto-forwarding.

Automatically Forwarding Mail at the Storage Deadline

If you don’t need your mail forwarded to you very frequently, but do want to make sure it doesn’t get shredded when it passes its storage deadline, you’ll want to turn on automatic forwarding at the storage deadline.

Go to your Stable Dashboard, then go to Settings → Address. Scroll down to Mailroom Automations, and click on Storage Deadline. Then, toggle on Forward.
