Regulations for US entities were written in the 1800s and have changed little since. The result is a confusing system based on antiquated assumptions about the way businesses operate — requiring physical addresses, demanding wet signatures, and communicating through physical mail.

👩‍💻👨‍💻 Role

We’re a hybrid organization built on remote-first principles across US time zones. We have quarterly offsites for the team to get together in-person and also plan virtual events in between. We’ve always been intentional about how we ensure each person in our organization feels engaged and appreciated at Stable, and we’re excited to bring someone on to help support us in that initiative.

In the next year, we have ambitious goals to scale the team. As the Head of Operations (People), you will drive the strategy and day-to-day execution of supporting our high-performing organization.

You’ll work directly with the CEO and sit on our leadership team to develop initiatives to support the people at Stable. Here are a few examples of the types of responsibilities you’ll have:

  • Make Stable an amazing place to work — You’ll be the voice of the employee and it will be your responsibility to understand how we can ensure that employees continue to be motivated and engaged. From planning offsites to onboarding new team members, you’ll be leading initiatives that directly impact employee engagement. 
  • Manage talent acquisition process — Every team has ambitious hiring goals for the next year and will need support in moving candidates through the funnel effectively. Your role will be to standardize our hiring process across the organization and act as an extra set of hands when needed to help out with sourcing, phone screens, and scheduling interviews.
  • Take lead on operational tasks — No task is too small for you and you’re eager to support the team in operational tasks such as opening a new office or managing our virtual mailbox (with Stable, of course :)).
  • Steer internal operations direction & strategy — As a member of our leadership team, you’re opinionated about when and how to implement tools, processes, and best practices. You can ruthlessly prioritize and understand the trade-offs of that prioritization.

This role is ideal for candidates that have led an Operations or People Operations organization at a high growth startup and are invigorated by making an impact on culture and teams in the early stages.

✅ What You'll Do

  • Manage employee experience, including onboarding, offboarding, and everything in between
  • Plan initiatives to promote team bonding and culture
  • Run payroll for employees and contractors
  • Manage talent acquisition process to meet hiring goals
  • Create a standardized process to manage performance and compensation across teams
  • Manage workplace experience at physical offices
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and global employment laws and regulations

✨ Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in an Ops or People Ops role
  • Experience working with and setting up tools (payroll, benefits, ATS, performance management, etc.)
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
